What is it?
Setup is really simple, download the Alexa app (not so simple in Norway, thank god for Android and APK) and connect the Alexa to the power adapter. The Phone and Alexa will find each other over bluetooth and then you input your WiFi credentials 30 seconds and later Alexa is LIVE!
I just call her Alexa!
One thing is all the possibilities and services you can tie in to Alexa, but when the product itself works so well as it does then everyone can use it. Alexa is probably the first piece of technology I have ever bought that actually distanced me from the hardware part as much as this. You actually forget it is a gadget sitting on your shelf. I stopped calling it the Amazon Echo, stopped talking about "it" and started addressing it as "her" and "Alexa. I actually stopped treating this thing as a thing and started talking about it ant with it like a human being. Maybe a bit on the weird side since every conversation starts with Alexa! But still, the technology disappeared and the humane part of it has taken it's place. I am the main user of Alexa in our household, but for the first time in a long time the misses started using one of my gadgets. Even the 4 year old in the house has started using it and the worst thing is she knows how to turn on and off the TV, one thing is that she is 4, the other is that all conversations with Alexa is in English. It is stupidly solid and easy to use, maybe too easy because the TV is turning on and off constantly because of the 4 year old.
